GOD'S DESTINY FOR OUR LIFE IS TO HAVE VICTORY IN JESUS!

I was blessed to sit in the church service at Northside Assembly of God, May 4, 2014, and hear Pastor Greg Cooper's first Sunday sermon as he took the leadership position as Senior Pastor. In a black suit, crisp white shirt, and blood red tie, Pastor Cooper probably did not notice his choice of attire fit the sermon topic that God lead him to preach on this sunny, beautiful day.
In two sentences, I sum up Pastor Cooper's message. "God has a personal destiny for our life, while Satan strives to stop us in our tracks with fear in order to defeat God's plans. Don't get scared in the middle of the battle, God is with us, goes before us, and will defeat the enemy as we take a stand to walk by faith and in the anointing of God."
Satan presents us with a black dark agenda as he whispers into our mind fear based lies. What is so true in using Pastor Cooper's attire choice as a visual analogy (which was never mentioned in his Sunday morning sermon that day), is the fact that the dark spirit of depression, doubt, fear, and sorrow, by way of trials and tribulations, can seem overwhelming. Indeed, these dark attacks are often all consuming. However, we as Christian's are urged to remember, Satan is a liar!
So too in comparison was Pastor Cooper's black suit contrasted by his white shirt shinning through, topped with a small blood red tie. What I saw shinning forth was a visual message that served to proclaim, "We Have Victory In Jesus!" Jesus Christ's shed red blood on the Cross of Calvary ushered forth the power of God's Holy white light to defeat the enemy. I thought and pondered my own dark night's of soul when fear and sorrow seemed impossible to overcome. And they would have been without the power of Jesus Christ's shed blood. My friends, there is power, wonder working power, in the precious blood of the Lamb.
I agreed in spirit with Pastor Cooper as he proclaimed, "God allows our battles and situations in life in order to increase our faith, and His anointing on our life. ...God allows Giants in the path of our destiny....but God is right there fighting with us. It's alright if the initial shock has scared you. It's O.K. to have fear ....just don't stay in a fear based mindset. God has called you to defeat the enemy." So true. Just as God helped David defeat Goliath (1st. Samuel 17).
Pastor Cooper reminded the congregation of the following encouraging scriptures:
* Psalm 23:4, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."
* Romans 8:31, "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?"
* Hebrews 13:5, "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."
Satan wants us to live in fear stopped in our tracks, not moving forward in order to hamper our victory. We defeat the enemy's attack on our mind, will, and emotions, when we give our problems to Jesus! He alone is the answer to "all" our problematic situations in life. We grow in faith and God's anointing through the many battle's we overcome. At the heart of our problems is our relationship with God. The more we learn to lean on Jesus we come to realize He was there all the time.
Jesus Christ loves us (John 3:16-17) and bought us with His redeeming blood. He loved me err I knew Him. Though He was slain, His death had no sting. For He arose on the third day. Because He lives we too are assured of power to defeat Satan's attacks on our life. Because He lives we too can live to proclaim God's destiny for our life. A destiny filled with hope and a future (Jere. 29:11), standing firm in the Victory He provided, by the power of His precious, holy, shed blood.
